The watch that went to the Moon
On July 20, 1969, humanity took its first steps on the lunar surface. Accompanying the Apollo 11 astronauts was the Omega Speedmaster Professional, a chronograph that had already earned its place in NASA's space program through rigorous qualification testing.
The Speedmaster went on to accompany astronauts throughout the Apollo lunar missions, becoming one of the most recognizable watches in history.
Reference 310.30.42.50.01.002 carries that legacy into the modern era. Introduced in 2021, it draws heavily on the fourth-generation Speedmaster design associated with the Moon landings, retaining the asymmetrical case, stepped black dial and distinctive chronograph arrangement.
Known among collectors as the Sapphire Sandwich, this version features sapphire crystal on both the front and back. The transparent caseback reveals Omega's manually wound Calibre 3861, connecting the watch's historic appearance to modern mechanical engineering.
