In 1991, Hermès artistic director Henri d'Origny was asked to design a square watch. Instead, he imagined a square contained within a rectangle, drawing inspiration from the iconic Chaîne d'Ancre bracelet, whose anchor-chain links had been part of the maison's jewelry heritage for decades.
The resulting Cape Cod became one of Hermès' most recognizable watch designs. Its architectural silhouette brought together the house's equestrian roots, Parisian elegance and unconventional approach to design.
Reference CT1.270.213/MHA offers a graceful interpretation of that heritage. Its softly curved tonneau case is crafted from 18K rose gold, complemented by a luminous white mother-of-pearl dial and a rich Havana alligator strap.
